Mental health issues such as stress, anxiety, and depression have become increasingly common in today’s fast-paced world. However, access to timely and affordable mental health support remains a significant challenge due to social stigma, a shortage of professionals, and high treatment costs. To address this problem, this project proposes an AI-based mental health assistant chatbot that provides immediate, accessible, and user-friendly support. The chatbot leverages advanced technologies such as Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Machine Learning (ML) to understand user inputs, detect emotional states, and generate empathetic responses. By analyzing text or voice interactions, the system can identify signs of emotional distress and offer appropriate coping strategies, motivational guidance, and mental wellness tips. It is designed to simulate human-like conversations, ensuring that users feel heard, understood, and supported. Additionally, the system prioritizes user privacy and confidentiality through secure data handling practices. In cases of severe emotional distress, the chatbot can recommend seeking professional help or provide relevant helpline information. Overall, the proposed solution aims to function as a first-level support system, offering 24/7 assistance and helping bridge the gap between individuals and mental health resources.
