Abstract

The rapid adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) has heightened the importance of battery safety, particularly the prevention of thermal runaway and fire hazards associated with lithium-ion battery packs. This paper presents ElectroSafe, an innovative smart battery fire protection system designed specifically for EVs. ElectroSafe integrates real-time thermal monitoring, early fire detection, and intelligent suppression mechanisms through IoT-enabled sensors and advanced control algorithms. The system continuously monitors critical battery parameters such as temperature, voltage, and current to identify potential fire risks before escalation. Upon detecting abnormal conditions indicative of thermal runaway, ElectroSafe initiates proactive cooling and suppression protocols to mitigate fire outbreaks, ensuring passenger safety and vehicle integrity. Experimental results demonstrate the system’s effectiveness in rapid detection and timely intervention, significantly reducing the risk of battery fires under various operational conditions. ElectroSafe offers a scalable, cost-efficient solution to enhance the safety and reliability of EV battery systems, contributing to wider acceptance and trust in electric mobility technologies
