Abstract

Investment in renewable energy has emerged as an attractive option for individuals, businesses, and institutional investors due to increasing environmental awareness, supportive government policies, and the growing demand for clean energy. Among renewable energy sources, solar power has gained significant attention because of its sustainability, declining installation costs, and long-term economic benefits. However, like any other investment, solar power projects involve various risks, including financial, technological, operational, regulatory, and market-related uncertainties, which can influence the expected returns. Therefore, understanding the relationship between investment risk and return is essential for making informed investment decisions in the solar energy sector. This study examines the investment risk and return characteristics of solar power projects by analyzing key financial indicators such as initial capital investment, operating costs, payback period, return on investment (ROI), net present value (NPV), and internal rate of return (IRR). The research also evaluates the impact of external factors, including government incentives, electricity tariffs, technological advancements, and market demand, on investment performance. A descriptive and analytical research approach is adopted using secondary data collected from published reports, research articles, government publications, and industry sources. The findings indicate that although solar power investments require substantial initial capital, they offer stable and predictable long-term returns with relatively lower operational costs compared to conventional energy investments. The study concludes that effective risk assessment, supportive policy frameworks, and continuous technological innovation can significantly enhance the profitability and sustainability of solar power investments, making them a promising option for long-term investors seeking both financial returns and environmental benefits. Keywords: Solar Power, Investment Analysis, Risk Assessment, Return on Investment (ROI), Renewable Energy, Net Present Value (NPV).
